چکیده

This work aims to study the vertical velocity distribution in near-wall layer of a pipe, channel, and boundary flat plate because these issues are great practical theoretical importance. Until now, engineering calculations turbulent flows have been based on empirical formulas derived last century. The theory fluid motion has not completed, hydraulic resistance remain open for further study. It is known that flow intricately linked resistance. Therefore, study’s objectives also include determining position point maximum tangential stresses comparing change with logarithmic profile. Based calculation analytical methods, we researched component stress along depth flow. Derived an expression smooth tubes. contribution viscous at different points evaluated. results were compared experimental data With decrease coefficient, shifts towards solid boundary. total stress, can conclude amount friction its influence significant. angular coefficient profile core determined.

Drag reduction in the turbulent Kolmogorov flow.

We investigate the phenomenon of drag reduction in a viscoelastic fluid model of dilute polymer solutions. By means of direct numerical simulations of the three-dimensional turbulent Kolmogorov flow we show that drag reduction takes place above a critical Reynolds number Re(c). An explicit expression for the dependence of Re(c) on polymer elasticity and diffusivity is derived. The values of the...

Wall-oscillation conditions for drag reduction in turbulent channel flow

The drag reduction properties of a turbulent channel flow modified by spanwise sinusoidal oscillations of the walls are investigated by direct numerical simulations. The work is based on the linear relation between the drag reduction and the parameter S, function of the maximum wall velocity and the period of the oscillation. This quantity, first determined by JI-Choi et al. (2002) and later st...

Drag Reduction in Turbulent Flow of Polymer Solutions

Progress in understanding turbulent drag reduction by polymer additives has recently been made on several fronts. The near-wall dynamics of Newtonian turbulence is becoming better understood. Detailed computations of complex flows of model polymer solutions are now possible. Insights into the effects of viscoelasticity have been gained from a number of important model flows, and the understandi...
